First Earth-Moon-Earth Telephone Communication - 100 CF

Issued in 1976 as part of the 100th Anniversary of the First Telephone Communication (1876-1976) series, this airmail stamp commemorates the first Earth-Moon-Earth telephone communication, achieved on 28 January 1960. The design depicts large satellite dish antennas and a communications control center linked through radio signals reflected from the Moon, illustrating an important milestone in the development of long-distance telecommunications. Before the widespread use of communications satellites, lunar reflection experiments demonstrated the potential of advanced radio technology for global communications. By issuing this commemorative stamp, the Federal and Islamic Republic of the Comoros celebrated a significant achievement in the history of telecommunications.
