Apollo-Soyuz Test Project (1975)
This stamp commemorates the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project, the historic joint space mission conducted by the United States and the Soviet Union in July 1975. During the mission, an American Apollo spacecraft and a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft successfully docked in orbit, allowing astronauts and cosmonauts to meet and work together in space for the first time. The project became an internationally recognized symbol of cooperation between the two space powers during the Cold War.
By issuing this stamp, the Comoros honored one of the most important milestones in the history of human spaceflight. The issue celebrates the spirit of peaceful scientific cooperation and highlights the role of space exploration in promoting international understanding, technological progress, and the shared pursuit of knowledge beyond Earth.
