African Leopard (Panthera pardus)

Issued in 1976 as part of the Endangered Animals series, this stamp commemorates the African Leopard (Panthera pardus), one of the most adaptable and widely distributed big cats in Africa. Renowned for its spotted coat, stealth, and hunting abilities, the leopard has long occupied an important place in African wildlife and natural ecosystems. Despite its adaptability, the species has faced pressures from habitat loss, human encroachment, and illegal hunting in many parts of its range.
