Centenary of the U.P.U.

The Universal Postal Union (UPU) was established by the Treaty of Bern in 1874, creating a single postal territory for the reciprocal exchange of letter post items across international borders. This milestone agreement revolutionized global communication by standardizing postal rates, operations, and international mail transit. Issued in 1974 by the postal administration of the Archipel des Comores to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the UPU, this 30-franc postage stamp (POSTES) features symbolic postmarks, a globe, and the classic UPU monument representation signifying global postal connectivity and international cooperation.
