Mamoudzou (Mamutzu)
Mamoudzou (Mamutzu), located on the eastern coast of Grande-Terre directly facing Petite-Terre, grew into the principal port and economic capital of Mayotte. Serving as the main gateway between the islands, its harbor handled critical maritime trade, inter-island ferry traffic, and fishing vessels supporting the territory's growing commerce. Issued by the postal administration of the Archipel des Comores, this 90-franc blue-bordered airmail stamp (POSTE AERIENNE) depicts Port Mamutzu, highlighting local fishing boats, jetties, and the volcanic headland lining the shoreline.
