Mosquée Zaouiyat Chaduli
The Mosquée Zaouiyat Chaduli (Shadhiliyya Zawiya Mosque), located in Moroni on Grande Comore, is a major religious landmark and spiritual hub for the Shadhiliyya Sufi order in the Comoros. Introduced to the archipelago in the late 19th century by the revered Comorian scholar Sheikh Ma'ruf, the Shadhiliyya order played a transformative role in shaping Islamic scholarship, community life, and spiritual practice across the region. This 20-franc postage stamp (POSTES) from the Comoros Archipelago (Archipel des Comores) depicts the prominent square minaret and white stone arcades of the sanctuary, celebrating the nation's Islamic architectural and Sufi spiritual heritage.
