Bank of Madagascar
The Banque de Madagascar et des Comores in Moroni represented the central financial institution of the territory during the mid-20th century. Responsible for issuing currency and managing regional monetary stability, the bank played a vital role in fueling agricultural, commercial, and infrastructure investments across the archipelago. Designed by P. Lambert, this 5-franc green-bordered postage stamp (POSTES) illustrates the central bank building in Moroni, featuring Neo-Moorish architectural arcades and a central tower surrounded by tropical gardens.
