Goulaivoini
Goulaivoini (Gouloivoini), located on the southern coast of Grande Comore (Ngazidja), is known for its striking volcanic landscapes shaped by the activity of Mount Karthala. The coastal region features rugged basaltic rock formations, volcanic hills, and scenic ocean views looking out over the Indian Ocean, representing the wild, unaltered physical geography characteristic of the largest island in the Comoros Archipelago.
To showcase regional landscapes across the islands, the postal administration of the Comoros Archipelago (Archipel des Comores) issued a dedicated postage series (POSTES). Designed by P. Lambert, this 10-franc blue-bordered stamp depicts a general view of Goulaivoini (Goulaivoini: Vue Générale) on Grande Comore, capturing the coastal waters, foreground trees, and volcanic hills rising in the background.
